I followed the basic pattern, but added a little fair isle because I wanted two colors. I’m making a hat and scarf to match.

Love the pattern, however if I had known that the thumb gusset wouldn’t work if you do fair isle as you increase and then decide that it would be wonderful to use only one color for the gusset. I discovered that doing this means that you have to strand the yarn over several stitches and that makes it hard for a little one’s thumb to get in there. I fixed it by pulling the strands up and tying them off with yarn, but the second mitten I held both strands of color together. I was going to attempt to pull the blue yarn on top of the brown so that the two would be a matching pair. That idea didn’t work either lol.

Regardless, the pattern is great, loved it to death. I screwed it up due to my own creativity. Given that I have never knit a mitten with thumb gussets or done fair isle, the project turned out great.
