I’m hoping with the cabling that I’ll finally be able to get rid of the rest of this pink yarn!
Making this hat to send off for the Women’s March in January. I hope it fits someone’s head.

I’m guessing correct gauge based on gauge from other project using this yarn.
There are some discrepancies in the pattern, definitely not for a beginner that’s learning how to read patterns.
A few key info missing:
- how many inches gauge swatch is based on. An experienced knitter will assume the the standard 4”, therefore your gauge should be 4.25 spi X 6.25 rpi.
- no indication in the written pattern when to use the 2 different sized needles listed in the tools section. If you’ve knit a hat before then, it’s typical to used the smaller size needle for your ribbing then move to bigger size needles for the rest.
- the instructions for the 4/2/4 are definitely confusing the first read-through. It should be re-written to state that you’ll need 2 separate stitch holders, so the first 4 stitches are on one holder and the 2 stitches on another holder.

There is no photo of the back of the hat in the pattern, so you can’t tell that is supposed to be Stockinette.
I’m modifying pattern to have a cable in the back, essentially making it a reversible hat. I’m reversing the cable direction for the “back” of the hat so that is is mirrored and lined up to the front cable for bind-off.
