8/0 beads needed. Picked up Toho 8/0 seed beads from Michaels on Saturday. They’re selection for seed beads is terrible for 8/0. I had three colors to choose from. Clear, black or gold. I went with clear and I’m happy with that choice. I was afraid that black would blend in too much and no one would be able to see the beads.
7.21.13 Cast on 200 stitches per pattern. No modifications this is my first time with this pattern so no messing around for me. Beading is easier than I thought it would be. I have the tiny crochet hooks from my mom, which are also Japanese, I’m using the 14 (0.75mm), also as the pattern states. I think the beading is working so well because this is knit with US8s so the individual stitches are long and therefore have room for a bead.
7.25.13 I’ve done 18 beaded rows which I think puts me over 25% complete. I have three more days to get this done for points. Why did I pick a lace project with a week to go in the round?
7.26.13 I’m at halfway!!! I had to open the second tube of beads to finish the 26th bead row. I’ve had about 20 or so beads that didn’t fit on the crochet hook, so I may be able to complete this with the beads I bought and not have to go get more. We’ll see. I still don’t think I can get this done by the 28th but maybe I’ll get a good amount done Saturday. At least now that its half done I can get half credit for it. I’m thinking I can put this in the Nerd Holiday and use March 14th, Pi day, since this is a circle and the beaded section could represent the radius of a circle. Vala wears scarves, this seems like something she would go for, with the bling of the beads.
7.28.13 I didn’t finish in time for Nerd Wars, once I got back from the Jephson Estate I started dosing off on the couch. I just submitted the project for half credit. Bummer, I only have 14 more beaded rows to go, which is 28 rows total plus bind off. I love this though, and I can use it as a WIP next round.
8.3.13. Picked this back up now that round three is underway and I needed something easy to work on up north. I ended up visiting with my grandmother. We are both knitters so it was great to make some progress with her. I finished my 50th beaded row while I was there. I’m in the home stretch now.
8.4.13 Done! I had one bead to spare. I already wove in the two ends, now I just to figure out how to wear it so the beads show. Hopefully I can make it work with whatever I wear to my 10 year highschool reunion.
