8.5.14 Started this one today. It’s for Judy. Her Birthday was July 30th. I may hold on to this ‘til Christmas. This will be for Nerd Wars too, not sure which category though.
8.10.14 Knit a couple repeats of the stockinette portion at the Jephson Estate event. This yarn is soo pretty. There are subtle color striations, I’m assuming this was kettle dyed. I’ll be getting some more Holiday yarns in the future.
8.13.14 Done with the stockinette portion and onto the lace. I just made nupps! Cool.
8.19.14 plugging away… It would go faster if I worked on it more often. The lace is starting to take shape. It just occurred to me that if I’m going to add beads I need to probably start doing that soon. Need to get this done by the 28th.
Beads: 6/0 Dynamites added to knit sts between YOs in charts A and B and on the sk2p stitches in chart C.
10.20.14 Picked this up again. I submitted it for partial points at the end of T11. Just getting back to it now. Finished chart A and onto chart B. Hoping I have enough yarn to finish this.
10.22.14 Finished up chart B and into chart C. I’m getting pretty low on yarn. I’ve got nine rows to go plus the bind off; fingers crossed.
10.23.14 Got through row 8 of chart C. I’m getting super low on yarn. Guess I’ll have to go get some more.
10.30.14 Went back out to Yarn Cupboard and got another skein. She still had some Lavender Buds there, score! Andromeda’s Big Sister also would have worked well. Its the same lavender color with a more pinky tonal over tone to it. I’m kicking myself now that I didn’t grab a skein of that too. It shouldn’t take too much of this second skein to finish the shawl and I could have made a stripey thing with the left overs… food for thought when I get to that point.
11.19.14 Finally wound the second skein and got this finished. I used the JSSBO mentioned in the pattern. It took me forever but it looks good and is very stretchy.
Beads chart C: placed on the purl side, on the sk2p stitches in rows 8-12. Also on the knit stitches between YOs on row10. (Because there would have been only one bead per repeat otherwise.) Hope that makes some sense. The shawl is wide but sort of shallow, like the recipient, ha ha just kidding. I have a feeling this will grow like mad when I block it.
Unblocked measurements: 46” across. 15”deep.
11.29.14 Blocking! Holy crap I used six mats and all my T-pins. Had to delve into the old straight pin box… its Uge Tom! HUGE. (well its the biggest one I’ve done so far, I think.)
Blocked measurements: 54”across, 19 1/2” deep.
Blocked gauge= 20st over 4inches.
Total number of beads: 293.
