Beautiful things come together one stitch at a time.
I gave both the previous ones away (one was intended as a gift anyway). This will be a gift as well. The end result is soft as a cloud, yet definitely warm, and recipients always are so impressed.
NEEDLES: Using my lovely rainbow wood needles (16”) rather than my slippery Platinas to hold this delicate yarn better.
YARN: 60% mohair, 15% wool, 25% silk. Really fiddly to cast on and get the first row going. Much better going after that. Like all mohair, it sheds, but not as bad as some other yarns.
Using this particular yarn, it is a very slow knit that requires lots of attention (no TV watching). I see several people use ordinary yarn in fingering wt. and that will be much easier and faster.
MODS: I CO 76 very loosely LTCO.
-Did 7 rows of single rib (because with my previous ones, I found the curled ends were not the same on each end plus there wasn’t enough elasticity. Really like the single rib instead now that it’s done.)
-On the last 2 stitches (of last row of single rib) I K2Tog to get back down to 75. Proceeded with pattern.
PATTERN: Definitely an easy pattern to read and do.
Although the pattern is easy, knitting is fiddly with sticky, cobweb mohair.
I could have got another inch but wasn’t wanting to risk having to tink back with this sticky cobweb so made the decision to begin the last bit of single rib. Bound off in pattern but loosely. Probably should have done a sewn bind off but I’m still quite pleased with the end result. Best one I’ve made of this pattern so far.
Makes an impressive gift.
