“Knitting is clothing made in spare moments, or round the fire, whenever women gathered together… It’s something to celebrate-clothes made in love and service, something women have always done.” -- Anne Bartlett, Knitting
The plan is to make a matching pair of welted gloves or mitts to go with the Wurm.
YARN: The yarn was a gift in a yarn swap from juliannph re MSK Fall 2016 swap. I’ve been saving it for a special project.
It’s a dream to knit with; love the fabric it creates; and love the colour.
PATTERN: Easy pattern. Lovely result.
CO 102 (meant to CO 100 - oops) based on so many people saying it knits a bit big.
BRIM: My first time doing a knit hem/turned hem. Although doing a 3 needle hem is not difficult, it’s extremely difficult when using heavily curling fingering wt yarn, trying to find the correct loops to knit. Once turned & attached, it looks so nice.
{Note to self: if I make another Wurm, which I likely will, begin with a provisional cast on to make it much easier to pick up those stitches for the hem. This video shows it nicely: https://youtu.be/xKpRjkC5pkU }
I’m really very pleased with the result. Turned out quite nice in fingering, especially with this super yarn. Love how it fits even though it’s meant as a gift -- love it so much, I hate to gift it. Will make more of these hats.
