I love this yarn! The colours are amazing and I want to eat them.
Then again, considering the names of the colourways, that may not be prudent…
I’m getting a gauge of 7.5 sts / 9.625 rows = 1” on size 2 (2.75 mm) needles.
With 60 sts cast on (8” circumference) it fits well at my forearm, but is 2” too big at the wrist and is already big enough to fit comfortably around my hand at the thumb (so would be too big with the gusset increases).
I’m going to frog back and add wrist shaping as follows:
-
Worked according to pattern until the piece measures 3.25” long (12 rnds rib on smaller needles, 22 rnds stockinette). I figured out where to begin decreasing by putting it on and pinning it where I needed to start pinching out fabric.
-
I need to decrease down to 6” (45 sts, round up to 46). That’s 14 sts to dec over the next 4.75” (46 rnds) (8” length minus 3.25”).
-
Decrease at beg and end of rnd on the next rnd, then on every following 8th rnd 6 times. (8 x 6 + 1 = 49 rnds; about 5" in length, which is fine.) I forgot that I probably want some space between my last dec rnd and starting the thumb gusset. So instead I should dec every 6th rnd 6 times. (6 x 6 + 1 = 37 rnds; about 3.8”)
-
Work even for 9 rnds. (46 rnds - 37 rnds)
-
I need to increase 14 sts for the thumb gusset over 2.75” in length (26 rnds).
-
I’ll inc on the next rnd, then every 4th rnd 6 times. (4 x 6 + 1 = 25 rnds). 15 sts between needles.
-
I’m going to do the increases on either side of the beg and end of the rnd, because I prefer to have the colour change run up the inside of my arm rather than the outside.
First glove weighs 29.2g.
38.2g remain of the Arsenic and 45g of the Lead.
There’s not enough contrast between these colourways for the one-row stripes to really show--I always choose colours without enough contrast for colourwork. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
I frogged again and did two-row stripes instead. I would love to do this pattern again though, with better contrasting colours and one-row stripes.
