This hat started with ideas from the Echo Ridge Slouch Hat (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/echo-ridge-slouch) but I heavily modified it and it’s really a very different pattern. The major changes are the sl st ribbed band, and hdc instead of dc.

I designed it to be dense but very stretchy so it can cover my thick heavy hair whether it’s French braided down my back or styled in a bun or updo. Using 100% wool means the hat is lightweight and warm, and hdcs give it enough thickness so that some stretching doesn’t create drafty holes.
