I wanted a small sc-ch2-sc stitch dishcloth with straight, sturdy edges not scalloped, so I did a chainless foundation, chainless starting stitches, and slip stitch final row. I really like the result.

ROW 1: With J hook, fsc 21.
ROW 2: With H hook, chdc in first st, * sc-ch2-sc in next st, sk next st, rep from * across, sc in last st. (10 ch-2 sps)
ROW 3: Chdc in first st, sc-ch2-sc in ch-2 sp and ea ch-2 sp across, sc in last st. (10 ch-2 sps)
Rep row 3 until piece is relatively square, about 20 rows total.
FINAL ROW: Sc in first st, sl st in ch-2 sp, * ch, sl st in next ch-2 sp, rep from * across, sl st in last st. (21 sts)
