I am not normally an ‘all-over-lace’ person, but when I saw Kristen’s pattern it was love at first sight. A very intelligently-written pattern and a joy to knit (even for a project knitter like me). However, it does require a bit of attention (some lace on almost every row), so it is better executed in short stints to avoid mayhem. A perfect match for Emily’s (Viola) out-of-this-world magical yarn (and how fab is the Dove grey colour way, eh?!). And just look at the stitch definition for such a soft yarn!! Added one extra purl row and used Jeny’s Surprisingly bind-off.

Background: Shawl made for my upcoming (14th of May!!) LA to Portland (Ore.) road trip - and since it’s not a road trip kind of pattern, I naughtily cast on just a wee bit before the official May Viola kal start to ensure I could finish and block before going…. he he!
