Small is 36’’, medium is 40’’ finished, but I wanted 38’’, so I did a bit of finagling to make it so. Helped immensely to chart out the 40’’ size, and then look at what was different for the 36’’ size, so that I could whack off a few sts here and there.

CO in pattern to avoid LTCO purl side on RS, since Row 1 is a RS row. Stitch pattern is easy to remember and read, but somehow also fun, because of the bits of double seed stitch to keep me thinking. We’ll see how I feel by the end of the sweater.

Pattern calls for plain stockinette sleeves, but I will likely add a panel of the stitch pattern up the center to keep myself entertained. I’ve seen a few other people do that with their projects.

Sleeve started yesterday, after charting out several ideas for altering it. I didn’t want solid stockinette sleeves, and liked the idea of putting the double seed stitch pattern up the sleeve, as several others have done.
Choices were:

  1. k2p2 ribbing, then transition to 18-st pattern
  2. work 18-st pattern from Row 1, as for the body
  3. work 30-st pattern, which includes columns of ktbl from Row 1

Went with option 2. Option 3 would have meant taking into account gauge difference, which I didn’t want to think about.

Currently just past Inc 9 of 12 for the sleeves. 69%

11-15-2024

Into the sleeve cap decreases. 75%

11-21-2024

Body pieces and sleeves complete. Washing pieces for blocking before seaming and doing the button bands 94.5%

12-11-2024

Shoulders sewn. Button band and button hole bands sewn. Just need to sew up the side seams, set in the sleeves, and sew the sleeve seams. 99%

12-26-2024

Seaming up finished, and buttons sewed on. Sweater is in a bath. After it’s dry, I will finish weaving in the ends.

12-27-2024

Complete! (Although I’m sure I’ll find a stray yarn tail that needs to be woven in at some point)
