Loved this pattern and love love my new jumper! The charts are so perfect, in colour, large enough to read and with the decreases clearly marked. The explanation is detailed and clear. The actual knitting was blissful too, completely seamless apart from a small amount of invisible grafting under the arms.
Gauge / Tension
My gauge for the stocking stitch came out a little loose at 16 stitches per 10cm but I wanted something a little on the loose side and the size came out exactly as I wanted it. I actually used size 4mm for the ribbing at the bottom of the body and sleeves (because those were the only needles I had). I’m glad I did because my ribbing still looked plenty tight enough.
Neckband
For the size small, the evenly spaced dec worked out at K3, K2tog. (90 stitches > 72). I frogged my first attempt at the riibbed neckband because I couldn’t fit my head through. I went up to size 4.5mm. I also used ‘Grandma’s favourite bind off’ as my loose bind off.
Grandma’ Favourite Bind Off
Place needle in stitches as if to P2tog but wrap the right needle with the yarn clockwise (opposite of usual); pass the stitch on the left needle onto the left needle and repeat until only one stitch remains. Draw the tail through the final stitch using a darning needle as usual.
I love how the pattern comes in sizes for all ages too (although we did laugh at how young the ‘parents’ in the photo looked - maybe more like older brother and sister!).
Thank you Lopi for this wonderful free pattern!
