I knitted this Bláklukka for a woman with some extra snowdrops and added lace detailing.
My Gauge
I used 4mm needles (80cm and 40cm circular) for the whole garment. That way I got the called-for 18 stitches to 10cm.
Finished garment chest size 35 1/2 inch, 90cm.
Cast-on body stitches 160 sts (with no shaping in the body)
Note
I used the single-eyelet rib lace pattern from the Fiðrildaslóð and skotta on page 82. I repeated these 4 rows: 4 times for the body (8 holes) ; 3 times for the cuffs and twice for the collar (missing out the final row.
I also used chart 2 - rows 19 to 28 (without decreases) as a decorative border for the body and cuffs.
Sleeves
Cast on: 40 stitches; 3 repeats of eyelet rib pattern (see note above); then border pattern; then 2 rows of stocking stitch, then inc 1st after first st and 1 st before last st every 9th round 10 times. Continue in plain st st until the sleeve is 42cm in length (23 more rows in my case). 50 stitches at the top of sleeve. 9 stitches are placed underarm on a holder for each sleeve. You should now have 60 stitches.
After joining (place 10 stitches underarm - knit sleeve - knit 70 stitches - place 10 stitches underarm) proceed with the Bláklukka yoke chart from then on apart from adding 3 rows of white between and at the edge of the garlands.
Neckband
After completing the yoke I decreased further
k6 , k2tog until I had 70 stitches left (multiple of 5 ready for the lace pattern).
My resulting measurements
Chest 90cm all round - 45cm across
Body length from underarm 39cm
Sleeves 48cm to the underarm
This was knitted whilst listening to ‘Little Dorrit’ by Charles Dickens.
