Perfect for those who get lost in books and forget their freezing little hands! A nice quick knit.

Although I used what is usually considered a 4ply yarn and much smaller needles my gauge turned out to be ideal for this pattern. In fact the mittens are still a fairly relaxed fit.

Gauge

5 1/2 stitches per inch (7 rows)

10 stitches per 5cm (14 rows)

I added a little Fair Isle pattern after the first lace stitch pattern.

Note

Where the pattern says ‘Turning Round’ this means the round that is the folding point for the cuffs at the top and bottom of the mitten. In other words the holes created by the YO, k2tog will create the pretty scalloped edge you can see in the picture.
