CO 188 (added 10 to do a garter stitch border).
NOTES:
Color A is the foreground
Color B is the background
I tried to do a gartered border around this, but because of the slipped stitches that pull the pattern together, it made the top and bottom borders ruffle too much. I pulled it out and decided to add a border afterward.
Did three rows of pink on the top (in the purl pattern), then picked up 124 stitches on the left side (eight rows for each two bubble rows). Did two more rows in the purl pattern to get to the bottom. Picked up and purl 178 stitches on the bottom.
Switched to white.
Remember to reduce some stitches on top and bottom rows on the next round so that it doesn’t ruffle when doing the subsequent rows. I knit the center two stitches within the circle (stitches 2 & 3) and knit stitches 1 & 4 together with the “line” stitch next to them. Basically, this eliminated the two vertical line stitches across the top and bottom.
For the corner increases, I did a yo,k1 before a marker and a yo just after it on all the uneven rows and knit all the stitches on the even rows. Another option would have been to increase a stitch on either side of the corner stitch.
Did 6 rows of white stockinette stitch.
Switched to pink and knit one row. Then did 5 purl rows.
Switched to white and knit 4 rows.
Switched to pink and knit one row. Then purl three rows.
Bind off. I tried “Judy’s Super Simple Bind Off”, but didn’t like it. I am going to try doing the knit a stitch twice and then binding it off. Didn’t like that bind off either. Did a regular bind off with the same size needles. The yarn is stretchy enough that it worked perfectly.
Using size G hook for the bobble edging. Work bobbles from the back side of the project as the back side of the bobble looks better. There are four empty stitches between the bobbles.
