Notes

Size “B” Boye hook

57g

Size is 9”x13” unfinished (tip to tip)

Yarn held single.

Gauge:
Two 8-stitch shell height = 1”
Two 8-stitch shell width = 2.25”
Nine sc = 1”

Errata:

Row 1 of treble pattern. The ch4 at the end should be moved to the end of Row 2 instead (to prepare for the treble pattern of Row 3).

In reading the pattern, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to do the slipped stitches in both loops or just the back loop. I did it in just the back loop because in looking at the original photo, it looks like there is a horizontal ridge across the fans.

Changes:

Doing 11 shell sets when beginning the pattern was too much and made the purse “ruffly”. Since I can’t press or steam the nylon thread, I increased the “V” section to 24 stitches on either side of the increases, decreased the shell sets to 9 and put two stitches between each fan and single treble.

Fan Rows:
One row of 4 stitches
Two rows of 6 stitches
Two rows of 8 stitches
One row of 10 stitches
Two rows of 12 stitches
Two rows of 14 stitches

If I do this again with the same yarn, I will up my hook size to a C.

Note about this yarn: Since it was 100% nylon, I was nervous about steam blocking it. I experimented with a swatch and it steam blocked just fine with no damage.
