NOTES:
Skirt: I had to go down one whole needle size. Working with a 2.25mm instead of 3.25mm. Changed to a 0000/1.25mm needle on collar instead of 2mm.
Bonnet: Used a 2mm needle.
Booties: Used a 2mm needle.
Place markers between the “k2” on Row 1.
Each row of shells on the skirt took 3.25 hours (after getting used to the pattern and if there were no errors to be fixed).
Sleeves: Did five rows instead of four. Also, they were too small for the sleeve opening. A fourth repeat of the pattern would have fit perfectly. Next time I’ll measure the sleeve opening first to be sure.
Bonnet: Did four pattern rows instead of three.
Booties: When you flip over the top, you see the back of the shell. Not a big deal unless you have a nice puffy shell. Next time I’m going to try to do one more garter stitch row before starting the stockinette ankle section in order to reverse the pattern.
I didn’t like the crocheted edging at all. Instead, I used a size 30 crochet thread in a shade darker than the yarn and a size 13 steel crochet hook. I did a ch4, skip 1, sc in next around (I did the ch4 tightly).
If I do it again, I will probably double the lace yarn (or use a light fingering yarn) and use a 2.75mm needle.
Also, I’ll block it less. It says to “block lightly” to not flatten the shells, but I still did it a bit too tightly. I may dampen and reblock it.
