Height: 4”

The directions seem confusing and make no sense at first, but if you just follow them, you’ll catch on to what is being done. When you start the “Foundation”, you are working the ribbon row across the top of the head (from ear to ear).

The first thing to note is that on Row 2 when it begins “Dc in first ch 2”, it doesn’t mean the first ch 2 of Row 1. It means the closest ch 2 after you turn it.

My Own Errata:
Back Edge of Bonnet
Row 1: Join to corner chain. Be sure there are seven shells and end on the other end corner.
Row 2: Repeat between * and * four times, not five.
Row 3: Repeat between * and * four times, not five.

Bonnet Crown:
Row 2: When it says to “dc in top of last dc”, it means to dc on top of the dc you made just before doing the ch3.
Then when it says to “dc in next dc on last row”, it means to “dc in the next dc on Row 1”.

I blocked the top and back pieces separately before beginning the crown part. Then blocked the crown part flat.

Next time try “DMC Petra Crochet Cotton 3” to see how it works.
