They say that the highland wool fluffs up nicely after washing and blocking, and my swatch confirmed this. So I hope the thing will come together even though it seems flimsy right now.
I also plan on dyeing the cardigan with natural plant dyes. Haven’t decided on the colour, i have some chestnuts for a deep brown, or perhaps I will make it orange or red from madder root. The natural porridge colour doen’t flatter my complexion. Or, its an excuse to have some fun with my dyeing pot….
Finally finished, it fluffed up nicely. Not a difficult piece, but after the cabling at the top was finished, it was a bit boring to finish.(There is no such thing as too many cables).
I chose to decrease the sleeve between two cables , so they gradually meet, instead of one cable awkwardly stopping mid arm. See picture with raised arm.
The increases are visible in the purls between cables, this bugs me a bit.
The inside is lovely. The warmth is yummy. I love this wool.
Now the confounding conundrum of which buttons to choose. And which plant dyes to pick. I think I will wait for summer and harvest perhaps something for green.
All in all, the pattern was easily followed, well explained, and free. Happy.
