My daughter wore this hat out and left it :0(
Orbitus, Bayern, and Toast: A perfect set for winter;
Gloves or mittens might be necessary at some point. I have extra yarn for this.
I love the hat but I need to practice doing short rows and picking up wraps in purl stitches.
I should have made this with a variegated yarn but I wanted a set. The hat is very nice. It covers my ears nicely and will be a nice edition to my winter wardrobe.
The pattern doesn’t have you pick up the wraps probably because the purl stitch bands cover them to some extent. In a variegated yarn one might not see them. In a light, smooth gray wool, you see them all…
I really hate the look of wrapped stitches in stockinette and a solid smooth light yarn just makes them worse. I repaired the looseness and unevenness I had by using matching thread to close up gaps on the reverse side. I can barely see them now, one has to look closely to see any irregularities, so I’m pleased.
I used Purl Bees tutorial on short rows but even so the picked up wrap stitches aren’t perfect. Probably I just need practice.
I now have a lovely winter set (hat, arm warmers, and scarf)!
