I went on my first motor bike ride last night. Of course after my friends saw the picture of me on a bike on Facebook, the comments about needing a cozy for the helmut started lol It’s really my bff’s helmut, and her dh I was clinging to riding the Harley, but she said she wanted a helmut cozy and she wanted a monkey on it. I had just finished making a Lil’ Monkey Baby Afghan and Hat for a friend, and I made an extra hat for her 6 y/o dd, so that’s where that idea came from.

I just improvised the pattern, working in the round in dc to get an oval shape, then doing a row of shaping with tc, dc, hdc and sc. Then more rows of dc. Then some border rounds of hdc in two different colours. The last two rounds I did some decreasing so that the cozy would stay on the helmut snugly. Then I made a monkey with leftover yarn from the previous project and sewed it on.

Now to see if she will actually wear it riding, I told her I wouldn’t wear it in public, but she’s bigger than me (6’) and can beat up any other biker chicks that make fun of her.
