Notes

I LOVE IT! It helps that I am utterly in love with the Malabrigo in greens/earth tones (alas no clue what the color way is…bought it about 7 years ago, the last skein when a shop close and have lost the tags). Used Malabrigo Natural 063 for the sheep, some leftover Juniper Moon Organic Merino in Anthracite for the faces/legs (it is a lighter yarn but it worked fine since it is just an accent). Was looking for a “night sky” yarn from Malabrigo or a tweedy/speckled-y yarn without luck. But the Cashmere Goat had the Berroco Sesame in Blue Poppy that turned out perfect. It is slightly lighter than the Malabrigo, but it looks just fine. I prefer all wool, but the slubs and intermittent sheen is just what I wanted.

As usual, the Malabrigo thankfully “grew” in length. Had it not, as in if I make this again in wool that doesn’t gain in length, I will likely make the ribbed portion about 40-50 percent longer, and possibly (?) add another 3 or so rows between the top of the sheep an the start of the decreases. I live in Maine and I like a deep thick doubled brim for the winter winds and cold, and I like the option of pulling the hat down low onto my neck (I tuck a cowl inside or have it cover the bottom portion of the hat when it is bitter cold outside). My head is not small, not really large either, but probably a bit longer than medium-female.

Will add more pics once it dries! And if I could find more of that Malabrigo green/earth, I would so buy it. MUST try dyeing wool (I dye cotton and linen and silk so hav a head start) and see if I can recreate it!
