Notes

Used a Beanie pattern from Bellish App to get the cast on number of stitches.

Did a swatch to guesstimate length (shortened the bird’s tail so the whole bird would be more visible on the side of the head. LOVE the look, the soft hand of the yarn. But….

Downside: No matter how I swatch and wet and block, the final product is so soft and almost too stretchy. When the wind blows I’m afraid this hat will blow off! Maybe some black elastic thread on the inside in the ribbing.

Using the Bellish app I may have misunderstood the decreasing as it got too small too fast. Tinked about six rows and changed how/where I did the decreases from two per repeat to one for the first inch or so, then added another decrease swirl halfway between the purples. Better.

Still, it looks nice, I really like that it is 5 (not 4 or 6) repeats and the way the purple spirals up. Considered a small cord “stem” with knitted leaf at the top but decided to let the star shape just be.
