Notes

Have to double check the colors. Will remove this note when I revise. Definitely Narcissus.

HINT: make your i-cord edge soft/flexible! I have always used a snugged-up i-cord edge to control edges. Don’t. You want it to stretch, otherwise even if you get gauge on a swatch the side that becomes the one that circles your head/face will be on the snug side.

Note: I got gauge with the suggested needles in stockinette, which is a bit unusual as often I need to go up one size. So I used the suggested size. If I were to make this again I would go up a size. I had to really block mine out, and still was about an inch or more short of Andrea’s suggested final measurements. The Mosaic stitch WILL contract the cloth and will stretch out with blocking, but I might have hoped for just a bit closer to her finished dimensions than mine. IF I had knit the i-cord a little softer/looser, I might have gotten closer to her dimensions. Since I live in Maine and like my cowls to fit a bit more closely than hers (she is in Maine too!), though, I’m good.

PS--the spin cycle yarn softens up with blocking. It isn’t a super soft squishy yarn, but does feel nice against the face and doesn’t itch. And the colors are beyond heavenly.

PPS--I read on someone else’s project about the colors. I started with the darkest and lightest. The darker Blue was Color A, the yellow was Color C. The medium blue mix is B. I had a tiny bit of each left, probably because my gauge seems to have tightened up in the knitting. If I had gone up my usual one size on the needles, I might well have finished up each of the three skeins.
