Knitting as written.
3/22 - I’m just past the ruching in section 3. As with any pattern that increases outward, I got a false sense of how fast this was going to knit up. I’m easily fooled. Gets me every time. I have enough yarn to make it to maybe 8 sections, and I wanted a larger one. We’ll see. It is an incredibly easy and mobile knit, though. Unfortunately, it’s getting to the point where sometimes one row is all I have time to knit.
3/26 - Finishing up the ruching in section 4, and it’s time to move to a longer cable. I started with 24”, because I didn’t want all that cable to deal with in the beginning when it was really small. I probably should have moved up before the ruching. It’s pretty tight, but once I do the k2togs, it will be easy to shift over. I may go straight for the 40” which should take me to the end.
4/3 - Just past the first increase in section 5. I don’t know if I’m going to make it to section 8. It’s all I can do to make it through one row in a sitting before I want to stab myself with a pointy knitting needle. I had to cast on another project to break the tedium.
4/14/14 - Three years later. This was in time-out until this month, because I just could not force myself to knit more, but I had gone so far that I didn’t have the heart to frog it. I finally decided to suck it up and finish it for my April WIPdown project. I had enough yarn to do another repeat, but I was so over it, that I ended it at six ruched sections plus the ruffle. I bitched and moaned about this, mostly because I really didn’t see myself wearing it or knowing anyone who I could gift it to who would wear it. To me, the shape looks very old-fashioned when worn like a traditional shawl. I think wearing it as a neckpiece under a jacket. It blocked out pretty big, and I think now that it’s done, I might actually wear it.
The color is most true in the WIP pictures at the bottom.
