Notes

A great sweater with jeans, decent with khakis.

The stripes are from “Kaffe Fassett’s Pattern Library,” p.12. He calls the pattern Egyptian Stripe and writes: “This rather formal stripe can be found on ancient Egyptian caskets in the British Museum in London and in the New York Metropolitan.” He shows it in four alternating colors for the wide stripes: light blue, rust, mustard, jade. I stuck with just one set of colors: light denim for the wide stripes, dark denim and cream for the thin ones.

I based the shaping of the sweater on my version of the “Boyfriend Sweater” from Sally Melville’s “The Knitting Experience: Book 3,” with a far snugger neck: designers seem to love wide necks, and I don’t.

Needle note: really 4.25 mm, but that doesn’t seem to be an option on the pull-down needle menu.
