10/30/2015 So I started from the top (per the instructions) with the intention of doing some sort of cable down the fronts (I’m not doing stripes so I wanted to jazz it up a bit). I got about 23 rows in before I remembered :p and THEN could not figure out how to incorporate cables. Frogged everything and started over with the intention of incorporating the diamond cable pattern from this blanket, but doing a lattice design (some of the cable crosses are to the front, some are to the back):

… only I’m doing it bottom-up, otherwise I think I might lose my mind trying to figure out how to do the cables and the increases. So now I have to rework the whole pattern backwards. Should be fun. I really like the way it looks so far, though. Since I’m knitting it bottom-up, I left the underarm stitches on holders, and provisionally cast on the sleeve stitches so that I can pick them all up and knit them from the top down. All decreases!!
11/8/2015 On the button band/shawl collar portion. I’m knitting the whole thing in 2x2 rib, and only doing 16 rows + bind off row, because 24 rows is ridiculously wide. Like, ridiculous.
3/15/2016 Sewed on the buttons today. Not at all impressed with the fit. Hopefully Poppi won’t care about the weird fit and will wear it anyway. Probably won’t be making this ever again, at least not in any adult sizes.
UPDATE: So apparently the pattern has been rewritten (as of January of this year, too bad, so sad for anyone who started theirs last year!) and the large that I made from the original pattern is basically considered a medium according to the new one. That’s just fcking brilliant.
First photo is a more accurate depiction of the color.
