Went down a needle size and only 32 sts for a scarf version instead of a stole.

This yarn is dying my hands as I knit! In all the many (many) years that I have been knitting, I have never had this issue and it’s completely off-putting! The label says it is machine washable, so you can bet it is getting washed before goes around someone’s neck! Also there is a great amount of variation in the weight of the yarn within each skein. Several places where the yarn is super thick- and then other places where it goes almost as thin as fingering. Not pleasant to work with at all
