Simple basketweave stitch. c/o (3x + 2) sts. Maintain a selvedge on both sides; in between the selvedges: k3, p3. After 4 rows, knit 1 row stockinette. Swap the knits for the purls and continue those 5 rows til the end (ending on the 4th row). Keep a long tail after bind off to crochet a loop to hand this off of.
