Notes

I loved this design with this colorway in the Ling prototype. The prototype had a major flaw in the size and shape of the dragonfly and the pond weed. So, I get to do it again, in my favorite yarn. This time I’ll probably create a red beaded dragonfly. And I may just use 7 colors of beads, as counted. That assumes I can find 7 colors of beads that work together. Then again, I may go back to that blue dragonfly.

Before I’m allowed to start this, I must finish the Sing Like a Canary colorway prototype 3 panel in that fat lace yarn that is really a light fingering.

Beads from Ling version:
Center Water lily: T8-634A : Silverlined Straw Gold AB from Whimbeads.
Wings: T8-643 SL Teal AB from Whimbeads
Seaweed: T8-643A SL Chartreuse AB from Whimbeads
(I wonder if the numbers are right on the tubes, or not?)
Outer Body: Higher Metallic June Bug from Earthfaire Toho T8-0506
Inner Body: Duracoat Galvanized Seafoam from Earthfaire. Probably Toho, I don’t know the number.
Eyes: 8-283 --- Noir Lined Crystal AB
Outer water lily: Miyuki 8-1004 SL Dk Gold AB…May change my mind and use the straw gold again here.

I’ve now switched the colorway to a special put up of Midsummer Pond. 3 oz of skein #6 (the cream and pale celery one), 1 oz of skein #5, and 2 oz of skein #4.

I went from #6 to #5 at row 82, then from #5 to #4 at row 101. From #4 back to #5 at row 160, then #5 to #6 at row 173. All transitions are 12 row transitions. The first one could have been better done at row 84, perhaps.

When I soaked this before blocking, it bled and bled. I washed it to clear, then soaked some more and it bled some more. By the time I got done, all the cream was green.
:-(
I’ve never had TUS yarns bleed before. Perhaps they got hold of some bad dye. Accidents do happen.

I wrote Laura at TUS, and she is doing everything possible to make it right.

I have used Photoshop to do a color correction on these photos. They are pretty close to what I had before the bleeding took place.
