Pattern #16 on p. 35 of Leisure Arts Big Book of Quick Knit Afghans. Blanket featured on cover.

Seed stitch border, 5 sts wide all sides. Borrowed idea from another completed project of this Afghan; other blankets in this book use a seed stitch border.

Cast on 120

Finished blanket weighs 2lbs 12oz (44oz) using two strands of worsted. Three skeins of Caron One Pound did the trick (48oz). Finished dimensions are 50” x 44”
I tend to knit tight and this is significantly more yarn than the pattern called for (35oz). I used size 15 needle instead of 17 and still needed more yarn. I may add a 5th diamond and cable pattern if I knit again (25 sts added to cast-on).

Cast on 145

I knitted this pattern once again but this time adding a 5th diamond and cable to the width, still using my size #15 needle. 25 additional stitches were needed for cast on. I also increased the length by one complete pattern repeat (9 diamond length). Having an odd number of stitches works better with the seed stitch border. Blanket weight is 3lbs 4oz (4 skeins of Caron One Pound). Dimensions - 56” x 51”
