Notes

This has been on my radar for quite some time. In fact, I’ve had the pattern for around 3 years but first one thing then another cropped up to stop me doing it.
However Jan 2020 and H asked her testers for assistance in updating. The original was done through Deramores but she’s putting together a deal with Wool Warehouse, which means redoing the yarn she originally used. I love the Stylecraft special DK, it’s so soft and squidgy. I checked my stash - which I really must list properly - against the list of what H originally used.

I came up with the following substitutes as I wanted something completely different to what she used:
1/Wine = Cornish Blue
2/Peridot = Grass Green
3/Rose = Clematis
4/Citrine = Buttermilk
5/Topaz = Duck Egg
6/Mist = cream

I originally thought of using Rose or Powder Pink or even a really bright pink but Clematis is soft with tones of blue and goes beautifully with Cornish Blue and Duck Egg. I also considered using Silver to replace Helen’s original Mist but the cream looks perfect with the two blues and the bright grass green. Buttermilk and Duck Egg are also soft, muted colours.

Unusually, it is a combination of 5 inch, 10 inch and 15 inch squares.

Igraine - 5 inch - requires 6 in in both Duck Egg and Cream. This is a beautifully quick and easy square to do.
Isolde - 5 inch - requires 10 using Buttermilk; Duck Egg; Cream; Duck Egg and Cornish Blue. A lovely little floral centre, again very quick and easy to do. I prefer the “production line” method of working so did 5 and then 5 - all 5 in one colour/round etc.
Morgana - 5 inch - requires 7 - Buttermilk, Clematis, Grass Green; Cornish Blue.
Lady of the Lake - 10 inch - requires 4 and I think this was my favourite one to do. Buttermilk, grass green, cream; duck egg; Cornish Blue.
Guinevere - 15 inches so the largest square. Needs 4 and uses all 6 colours. My second favourite.

I noticed all the of squares have exactly the same centre in Buttermilk, so took a ball of it plus my hook to work and got them all done in my breaks over a couple of days….
