the basic hexi pattern is on Cherry Heart’s blog - I’m just making the rest up as I go…

I love her original colour choices but I have a distinct lack of pink in my stash, and the blues will look lovely in Mum + Dad’s den with their palette…

scraps including Fyberspates, Lorna’s Laces, Madelinetosh, Malabrigo, Koigu, Round Table Yarns, Vivid Fiber Arts, GnomeAcres, and many unidentified minis.

Using an alternating slip stitch in a blue/grey thread to join the hexis through the back loops on each side… it’s really easy and looks like delicate embroidery when finished:

• -poke hook thru back loop of first corner and pull thread loop through with hook

• with that first loop on your hook, poke hook into back loop of the corner of second hexi where you want to join them

• here I usually pull up both the lead thread and the tail thread and slip the 1st loop on my hook over both threads (slip stitch) but you can pull up just the lead thread and slip the first loop over it.

• with the new loop on the hook, poke the hook through back loop of next unattached stitch on the first hexi and slip loop as before

• repeat with hook and loop on the second hexi and repeat alternating sides until the edge is completely stitched

• I often do these in rows of many hexis at once, or at least more than one edge at a time to save needing to weave in ends when both sides will show. (allowing hexi tails to be woven in easily -- see next point for how)

• TAILS: starting tails and hexi tails can be hidden within the seams easily by allowing them to lie in between the hexis - the slip stitches will go over them and be naturally anchored on the back side too :)
