For the long tail cast on, I didn’t work from the center of the ball, but instead measured my yarn for 10sts. I ended up measuring out a little over 160” and cut off about 6”. YMMV.
First skein of yarn completely knit through on row 24.
Second skein of yarn completely knit through on row 49.
Third skein of yarn completely knit through on row 89.
Fourth skein of yarn completely knit through on row 105
Fifth skein of yarn completely knit through on row 113. Per Tracy, on Row 113/114 she’s just using up 8 balls of Kenzie. The pattern calls for 19, and 8/19 = 0.42 = 42% of the total yarn. Right now I’ve used 5.464 skeins. So I will need a total of 13 skeins. (5.464/0.42 = 13.01)
Sixth skein of yarn completely knit through on row 137.
Seventh skein of yarn completely knit through on row 160.
Eighth skein of yarn completely knit through on row 182.
Finished 10/20, just needs to be blocked and to have a photo shoot!!! :D
10/21 blocking is going slooowwwwly. Also, I wanted to note that I used every last drop of 12 skeins and dipped into a yard or two of the 13th for seaming and such. I’m glad I didn’t have to play yarn chicken! The first 10 were all one batch, and the last 2 were a separate batch, so the very top of the hood is a slightly darker shade, and the structural panel is a bit darker as well. But I LOVE the effect. It totally looks intentional!
