Notes

For 55” size each front has 58 sts and the back has 123 sts. I want to replace the pattern with something similar to Vogues Man Cable Sweater.

Fronts: k3 (p2 k6 p2 k4) but on the last rep k3 instead of 4.

Back : (p2 k6 p2 k4) p2 k6 p3

The k6 will become 3 over 3 cables

Caleb wants me to omit the texture on the elbows in favor of stitching on leather elbow pads. May see if I can convince him to do vegan leather so it’s more washable.

Caleb wants trim to be brown and main sweater to be orange.

I’m going to add a couple inches to the length and have 22” until the armhole instead of 18”

Cable cast on because I wanna

March 23, 2020

22” for body reached with 20 repeats of the cable pattern from “Man’s Cable Cardigan” - ended 3 rows past the cable, ending after a WS row

Sleeve 1: 30 rounds after final increase round to get post-cuff sleeve length to 20”

Need to pick up additional stitches on each side of bottom of button band because I added length.

I added 4” extra. My gauge is 8 rows per 1” so that is 32 extra rows. The pattern says to pick up 3 stitches for every 4 rows. That means each side will need 24 additional stitches picked up. 172 sts picked up for right front, PM, (saddle shoulder, back neck, saddle shoulder), PM, 172 sts picked up for left front. 418 sts total.

April 3, 2020

Since my gauge is 8 sts/row and the pattern specifies 7 sts/row, I’ll have to pick up more sts than the pattern specifies.

I ended up picking up 184 on the right front. I will just plan to pick up the same on the left front. That means 442 sts total.

The ratio of 3 sts picked up per 4 rows means that I will be picking up 6 sts per inch, which is a little more than my gauge of 5 sts per inch. I think it will still look okay because the button band will end up being stretched out on the row axis which will screw up the stitch gauge a little.

I did already kitchener the underarms & weave in those ends.

This sweater is requiring a lot more math and thinking than I generally like to do, haha.

Need to add more rows to the button band. Pattern calls for 5 rows after collar shaping. I will do 7

Buttonholes. 5 sts instead of 4. 20 sts between each hole. First hole starts after 50 sts past marker. 4 sts after last hole.

Do 7 rows after buttonhole instead of 5, to match.

Go down to size 4 for icord BO.

Caleb wants felted elbow patches. I plan to knit a stockinette rectangle in a looser gauge and felt it. I will have to determine what dimensions I want the felted piece to be and round up based on this guideline:

You’ll find that felting will shrink your item from 15 to 20 percent across its width and from 25 to 40 percent in length.

Finished I-cord BO, moving on to Pockets.

Starting on the RS of pockets, picking up the stitches by knitting 1 row across the RS. Then on the WS, starting in pattern. First cable is 6 rows after picking up sts.

April 12, 2020

Pocket is 4 cables + 5 rows after the last cable. Icord BO on size 4 with brown with 3 sts
