Notes

I’d been looking for a pattern for this lovely Twister yarn for a while and this pattern really fit the bill.
I love Wilma Westenberg’s patterns, so it was an easy choice.

I made a couple of changes as listed below:

Working the pattern:
Used 4mm hook throughout (apart from the sc row I added at the end).

I followed the pattern, and I like the way the shawl will stay wrapped around the shoulders owing to the width, but I also wanted to make a longer shawl which gave good coverage for the back as well.

So, I added an extra full repeat using a matching Twister solid (light purple), managing to place the solid colour in the right place to follow the gradient of the yarn.

Going back to the original yarn to continue the pattern, I also added extra rows towards the end - added Row 12, then 9, 10, and 11, then turned to do row 10 again and finished with an sc round to add a little structure.
(this sc round used the 4.5mm hook).

Added tassels to each edge. Used matching beads to decorate.

(reminder note for me - at a few ends of the plain row 2 rows I chained 4 to begin and trebled as last st - this was to help prevent the shawl turning inwards).

Measurements:
Width across (minus tassels): 71 inches (180cms).
Depth (centre neck to ‘V’ point): 30 inches (75.5cms).
Tassels each: 16cms long.

This is a pattern which works extremely well with Twister/Whirl type yarns and I will definitely use it again.

Some notes on reading the pattern:
I purchased the pattern and was very pleased with it, but there are a few bits which may appear difficult for a beginner:

It’s very important to count your stitches. They will help you understand the instructions.
This is most important for rows 9 and 10.
(and as there is a full st count overview, this really will help).

Note on stitch count:
Although the pattern says it only counts dc stitches, sc stitches are counted as well on row 10.

Row 10 - put your sc into the ch2 space at each side of the centre ‘V’.
’chain bow’ you may know as a ‘v’ stitch.

And Watch The Video.
I didn’t notice the link to the video until I was late into the pattern, but it did help clarify that I had worked out the instructions correctly slightly_smiling_face
