Notes

This is going to be a small shoulder/cross-body bag, made with 2 squares.
26th April 2018 - first Square completed.
This is a lovely pattern and very easy to do.
The completed square is 8 inches, rather than 12 inches, but this is because I was using DK rather than Aran.
Once both squares are completed, I will add a border and joining stitch, which will make the bag a little larger.

27th April - 2nd square completed
I have also added an extra round of sc in fondant plus 2 rows of sc in black as extra edging.
I have added a treble from black row to black row at the central points, to continue to stained glass effect.
Now I’m off to find some matching lining for the bag.

28th April - Bag Assembled
Everything is done now, apart from lining the bag.
I added one row of hdc in fuchsia purple to each square, then joined them together with a flat braid join.
I continued the join around the top of the bag to provide holes for a braid fastening (161 chains in black) which can be tied to close.
I then added 2 rows of sc, also in fuchsia purple, to give height and stability to the top of the bag.
This bag has a crocheted strap - 161 chains in fuschia, followed by hdc row in fuchsia purple and one hdc row in black, followed by hdc fuchsia purple.
I then made an sc row in fuchsia purple all around the edge of the strap, to give it stability.
The strap is attached to the bag with fuchsia purple over-sewing.

Lining is ready to be made tomorrow - it will be made from a cotton fat quarter and will be double to provide thickness.

29th April - Bag completed
I made a double lining with two cotton ‘fat quarters’. I used the darker of the two prints to ‘line’ the bag and face outwards, as the colour was the best match.
The lighter lining is used for the ‘inside’ and has a 2-section purse attachment.
Lining was machine stitched but hand sewn into the bag.
Bag measures 10.5 inches square and is quite roomy inside.
I’ve attached a ‘process’ collage pic, to show all the different bits that took place :)

Yarn used - about half a skein of fondant, one third of black, and two thirds of fuchsia purple.
