Designer’s Notes
Are you ready for a challenge? You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You have so many gifts and talents. Let’s use some of them with our own Winter Games Challenge.

You decide. Can you knit a scarf? A wrap? Or a shawl? Can you focus on your knitting while watching the grace and beauty of the winter athletes from around the world? Could you do this with the support and encouragement of another knitter or two? (Not all Game events are for singles!)

Start time (cast on) will be the beginning of the games on February 8th, 2018.

The finish (Bind Off) will conclude with the ending of the games on February, 23rd.

A winner in each category will receive a coupon code good for one of my current or future patterns (through December 2018).

Set up your Project Page with the tag: gogold2018

Show us a photo of your beautiful yarn (and beads)!

Let’s get sticks, strings, and beads gathered! They will be starting up the games soon!

So, here’s the scoop:
You can knit a scarf, a wrap, or a shawl using this pattern. If you want it wider than the scarf, just repeat the instructions for a total of 2 or 3 times. grinning
You can knit on your own.
You can knit with a buddy….

Use the coupon code: Challenge18 to get the pattern for 30% until the end of the day (Central time) February 8, 2018.

Remember! We do not start knitting until the games begin February 8th! Too bad if you have itchy trigger fingers. wink

Scarf/Wrap/Shawl

I have prepared a pattern that could be knit to be a scarf, doubled to be a wrap, or tripled in width to be worn as a shawl. We will begin our own challenge in Knitting in the Loft with the beginning of the competition. With the goal of completing our projects by the end. Won’t you join us?
This pattern can be knit in lace, fingering, DK, or the yarn weight of your choice using needles that correspond.
There is a Contrasting Color option if you would like to emphasize the special symbols of your project.
You will need: 120 yards for the scarf,
240 yards for the wrap,
or 360 yards for the shawl of the weight yarn you have decided to use for the main color of your project.
If you want to add Seed Beads, you will need:
8/0 for Lace weight,
6/0 for Fingering,
or 5/0 or 3/0 for DK.
You will need: 373 for the scarf,
746 for the wrap,
or 1119 for the shawl.
The Finished Size is approximately 70” x 11” for the scarf, 70” x 22” for the wrap, or 70” x 33” for the shawl.
Many, many thanks to my test knitters, misspips and triciad19 !!!

My notes
Too much fun to miss! Also, I’ve seen the pattern and it looks really pretty.

15 January 2018. I found 7 skeins, or nearly 950 yards, of Patons Pearl (discontinued) in my gift stash, which I believe should work for the scarf version. It is DK weight.

11 February 2018. I couldn’t do it. I could not knit a whole scarf in yellow acrylic yarn. So, instead, I frogged my Estonian Flower Garden, cast on with that yarn, and knit the 30 row border. The yarn? Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in colorway 509 Satsuma, dye lot 0293.

28 April 2018. Finally on the blocking boards, and today I claim SALUFO Achievement-ness for this project.

29 April 2018. My daughter as model, finishes this project, pictures and notes!
