3 balls of the knitcol have made all the owls/beaks and the large circles. Starting the small circles with the 4th ball. I’m making 4x4 (16 owls) as they’re quite small compared to the worsted owls in the original pattern (mine are 3.5”, the originals are 5.5”). Hopefully blanket will be large enough.

In total I need 16 owls, 9 large circles, and 24 small circles.

03.03.2013 - have made all the bits with the variegated yarn, and have bordered the small circles, just doing the octagons now, 5 down, 20 to go….

Finished, blocked, photographed, and being packaged up to send to the lovely little baby that I hope will love it. I used some 4ply and a 2mm hook to make the pupils for the eyes as I was concerned about buttons and babies (as were a lot of other people who have made this project). I tried to make the eyes look in different directions, succeeded in giving some of the owls a need for spectacles I think!

I used 4 balls of the multicoloured yarn, and only just started the 8th ball of the cream on the very last round of edging. It could be done with 7 if one was a bit more frugal with ends.

Blanket weighs around 520g (there were a lot of ends!) and measures approx 73cm square.
