I ended up with about 6 feet of scarf pre-felting and 4 feet post felting. The resultant fabric is marvelously light but warm, and looks a bit like a boucle.

I stopped reading the directions at some point and just opted to drop stitches alternating intervals of 8 and 12 rows. I like the way it looks.

The felting process itself was quite simple--I just used a sink full of hot water and a bucket of cold, no vinegar anywhere, and my bare hands. This yarn really wants to bind to its neighbor, and so the whole process took less than half an hour. She seemed concerned about edges marrying to the body, but as long as you pull it out to its full length and width from time to time you shouldn’t have any problems. I did it every time I changed buckets.
