Notes

3,0mm for the upper part, changed to 3,25mm after stripe no. 5.

Soft Lamb colors:

  • Auric (yellow)
  • Topaz, of some odd dyelot (turquoise)
  • no Soft Lamb, as there was no color which was really blue without any green in it; used 1,5* Rennie (blue)
  • Thistle (purple)
  • Fiesta (magenta)

Modifications:

Upper body:
Picked 2 sts more per front (worked 4 rows more Garter) to make the shoulders a bit wider, as this one is no summer sweater; casted on 4 sts less on back neck and center of front neck to compensate this.

Lower body:

  • more underarm sts: 28 (all sts increased on body after last stripe has been worked)
  • 20 rounds between stripes, just like the original
  • added all increases to side panels: picked up stitch from first edge stitch and PURL it (on right side: twist like for M1R), kept both new sts inside markers; until waist, only increase at stripes.
  • Later (after stripe 2): Increased every 11 rounds, i.e. in knit row after 5 MC Garter ridges, too.

After body stripe 7, I worked the usual 20 rounds in between CC stripes, increasing every 11 rounds as usual: those are the last increases (52 sts for side panel).
I ended with a round with knit sts on side panels.

Instead of working the MC round with short rows in CC, I slipped sts up to first (underarm) marker without knitting them, SM.
Knitted panel sts with waste yarn in different color (this row will be removed later for pockets with edge in next CC in sequence). Cut waste yarn, SM.
I repeated those 2 steps for front. (Or was it back first?)

Work 20 MC rounds “in pattern”, starting and ending with a round with knit sts on side panels.

2 repeats with CC stripes after pocket opening, then 2 CC rows all around and then a Garter hem with needle 3,0mm (19 rounds).

Pockets: Removed CC waste yarn. With MC, knitted half a round, so both sides have a knit row on top. With CC, purled a round. With MC, bound off 2x8 sts per side (3-needle-bindoff from the inside) so that the pockets only have 2x36 sts, not 2x52 (would have been too big). Knitted 55 rounds, the closed pocket using a 3-needle-bindoff from WS.

Sleeves:

  • decreasing every 9 rounds as: K1, k2tog, … ssk, k1, SM
  • (starting with 7+74+6 = 87 sts) 55 sts/ 38cm when starting cuff.

Cuff (10 cm):
Change to needle 3,0mm.

Repeat of 12 rounds:
CC: P1 round, k1 round:
MC: Repeat (p1 round, k1 round) for 5 times.
In first 2 repeats, worked decrease round in last MC round => 51 sts.

Repeated those 12 rounds for 4 times, with different CCs according to color sequence.
Then worked the 2 CC rows with CC5.
With MC, purled 1 round and bound off knitwise.

Approx 50g used per sleeve.
