2/15/2011: I’ve been looking for the perfect project for this yarn-- a squishy single of wool/acrylic blend. I can’t quite picture how the striping is going to play out but I’m happy to be getting both stitch and row gauge with the US10 needles I grabbed along with the yarn and pattern on my way out the door to coffee shop knitting.
Note: DON’T slip the first stitch of every row as directed. It just leaves the shoulder seaming loose and messy.

I set this project aside shortly after starting because I spilled coffee into the project bag it was in. Now, my daughter’s friend is having a baby (due in a month, shower is tomorrow) and this sweater is perfect for her. So I pulled it out to see if it could be rescued. Then I realized I’d washed the unused yarn for it but not what I’d already knit. Well, it was capped off on a Knitpicks Options cable so I washed it and let dry. Surprisingly, the coffee came out (it’s been 8 years!). But I couldn’t find the pattern (I’ve moved since I started it so…?). I purchased the ebook and the numbers are a little different (more stitches so the body is longer). I decided the original length is fine and finished the bulk of the knitting yesterday. Shopped for buttons this morning (settled on the lower left ones, though the blue were my first choice). I left the front on a cable so I could try out an i-cord bind off before deciding if I want to do that rather than crochet edge and button loops. Then I’ll wash it again and it should be dry in the morning.
I like the i-cord bind off and button loops. Used US 8 for the bind off, switching to US 7 for the loops (6 rows of unattached i-cord)
