Notes

7-17-19 - Finished! I still love the colors and the pattern. I kept having issues with the edges. There was a loose thread that kept making a weird “chunk”, and un-weaving was annoying cause it kept happening. It made some of the edges wonky. But it was still fun and a learning experience. Glad its done, now on to the next one!

7-2-19 - I LOVE this! I’m still amazed that I am making something so BEAUTIFUL like this! I chose another fairly simple pattern, one with several of the same ‘forwards’ and ‘backwards’ turns, but this one has some separate turns as well. I’ve only woven a little so far, but enough that I memorized the pattern. I’m using an ingenious warping method using fishing swivels and key rings and a sliding knot. I had some difficulty getting the sliding knot correct, but I think I’ve got it okay, and it seems to be working as expected. Yay!

I had a few hiccoughs at first, I had a card strung wrong, and I was able to undo my knot and restring it correctly. But boy, was I nervous about it! I wasn’t sure it would work, but luckily it was close to the edge, so it didn’t jack up the other threads too much. I also had a few too many turns here and there, but I un-wove it (what a pain that was!), and started fresh.

I’m also trying the ‘move the edge cards only one direction.’ I think my edges are looking better, but still working on those. It does seem a lot cleaner than moving them forward and backward.

Now it’s looking pretty good, I like my color choice and I love it so far!!
