Notes

10-7-2020 - Finally finished! It was a long journey, sometimes torturous, sometimes successful. It was an adventure in sampling, and I am glad it is done. I will revisit again someday, because I sort of feel it is like being able to draw with my weaving. I feel I accomplished that with my attempts. I have to give credit to J. L. MacLaren’s String Theory page for some charts & inspiration. The leafy vine is gorgeous, and I used one of the curly scrolls as inspiration to finish that vine. Most of the rest are just random charts & my own ideas.

After playing with the strap a little, I was surprised in the difference of the ‘feel’ of the strap. With cards all in the same direction (the more square-ish designs) is much softer feeling than the cards going s-z-s-z. Interesting. I also put a little more ‘push’ towards the end, because I just wanted it DONE! smile

06-22-2020 - So, I’m having fun, playing with patterns, and getting lots of twist buildup. Not sure why I thought I wouldn’t get it with this type of weaving, but yeah. I’ve been procrastinating about what to do, keep going or… something else. So I did a radical thing this past weekend, and CUT the threads, and re-threaded them onto swivels & key rings. SOOO much better now! So I will keep going weaving along, hopefully without too much twist!.

5-18-2020 - I signed up for a free month of Handwoven, and watched the tablet weaving videos with John Mullarkey. He has such a patient and thorough way of instructing. I really liked it, and especially the double faced instruction. I was itching to try it, so here we go! I warped this up in record time. I wove just a header, so looking forward to moving ahead with the sample band.
