1-1-23 - Ta-da! It’s done, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. After much deliberation, I decided to go for it with the length. It turns out to be just enough. I found a 2” wide navy twill tape from here. (It was shipped quickly, packaged beautifully and securely and even included a lovely wooden ornament. I’ll order from here again!) I sewed the tape to the strap, using 4 lines of the stripes to camouflage the stitches, added hardware and done! The tape added the sturdiness I wanted, because the strap felt thin on it’s own. I think Renee will be pleased!
10-29-22 - Finally back to weaving on this again. My hands are feeling much better, could be the warmer weather. Had to do some drastic measures to extend the warp. I miscalculated the length, so I’ve spent the last few days tying on extra threads. I’m hoping to get at least 10-15” more out of the strap. Not sure how it will work with all the ties on it. I had to reorder the hooks, so those should be here soon, if they don’t lose them again.
10-23-22 - I started having tension issues and messed with it so many times, my hands hurt. They are hurting more than ever, so progress is slow. I also realized yesterday that I warped too short. I gave myself some slush for take up, but it’s not long enough. I also ordered the hooks and they got lost on delivery, so gotta wait for the second order now too. I’m going to make it as long as I can, and see what I get.
9-29-22 - Started this strap by request of a friend at the campground. She wants a strap for her violin case, she loves blue and white, so here we are! I had a few setbacks because I ran out of one of the colors, and it always seems to take me FOREVER to warp the cards. This is the widest tablet woven band I’ve done, about 2 inches wide. I used almost all of my cards. Then I had trouble getting the pattern to work out, so it took a bit of back and forth to get that worked out. I love way the stripes look! I’m finally moving along with it, and hope to have it done before camping season is over in a few weeks!
