Adult MOD: I’m a loose knitting hence the smaller needles.

Adult Size - 2 Colors
Cast on 78 stitches using the Rib Cast-on

Ribbing:
K1 tbl, P1 repeat to end of round
Repeat Ribbing until piece measures 1 in from cast on edge.

Body:
Change to larger needles and k1, increase 1 stitch, k39, increase 1 stitch knit to end. 80 stitches.

Section 1

Using color 1 Knit 2 3/4 inches from end of ribbing in stockinette (about 4-5 rounds).

Section 2
Round 1 K1 with color 2, K1 with color 1 repeat to end of round.

Round 2 K2 with color 1, K1 with color 1 repeat to end of round.

Repeat rounds 1 & 2 for 4 rounds or until section is
7/8th inch to 1 inch in height.

Section 3
Using color 2 knit 4 rounds of stockinette stitch or until 7/8th inch 1 inch in height.

Section 4

Round 1 K1 with color 2, K1 with color 1 repeat to end of round.

Round 2 K2 with color 1, K1 with color 1 repeat to end of round.

Repeat rounds 1 & 2 for 4 rounds or until section is
7/8th inch to 1 inch in height.

Decreases
For this hat I just worked the decreases skipping the knit rows in between (not sure if I like this, may rework with knit rows).
