STEP 2 Row 1-10 knit every row for Garter st (5 ridges total)
STEP 3 Row 11 (WS) k6, p40, k6 * Mark (WS) w/ st marker
STEP 4 Row 12 knit
STEP 5 Row 13 k6, p40, k6
STEP 6 Row 14 knit
STEP 7 Row * 15 (WS) k6, Purl 2, k36, Purl 2, k6 end stocking st via reverse stocking st
STEP 8 Row * 16 knit
STEP 9 Row 17 * repeat rows 15 & 16 until piece measures 4” Note the number of ridges, example 11 ridges so when you reverse steps you’ll know how many to make
STEP 10 Next Row (WS) k6, p2, k10, p16, k10, p2, k6 Step 10 & 11 makes ctr squrare 14 ridges
STEP 11 Next Row Knit 6, k2, k38, k2, k6
STEP 12 Next Row repeat STEPS 10 & 11 (around 20 rows or 14 garter ridges on the side) until stockinette stitch square measures 4” ending on STEP 11 ( a (RS) knit ROW)
End of Center Square
STEP 13 (WS) k6, Purl 2, k36, Purl 2, k6 center square ended here via reverse stocking st
STEP 14 knit
STEP 15 repeat steps 13 & 14 until piece has previously Noted number of ridges ( from Step 9), example 11 ridges so when you reverse steps you’ll know how many to make.
STEP 16 (WS) k6, p40, k6
STEP 17 Knit
STEP 18 k6, p40, k6
STEP 19 Knit 10 Rows
STEP 20 Bind off loosely, weave in ends.

Row 1-8: Knit
Row 9: K6, then knit rib pattern as follows: * P3, K3, repeat from * 11 times, last 6 stitches. K6.
Row 10: K6. * P3, K3, repeat from * 11 times, last 6 stitches. K6.
Repeat rows 9 & 10 until piece measures 11”
Next 6 rows: Knit.
Bind off loosely, weave in loose ends.
