Notes

So this is my variation of the pattern by Lion Brand. I wanted it to be baby size, and didn’t think the largest square would fit in well so I arranged some squares to create what I wanted. I also added an extra row of white around each square which meant an additional row of color had to be added to the medium square pattern.

11/23 - Squares have all been completed now for a few days and I’ve been waffling on how to attach them together… I want white in between them, I think it’s going to be a trial and error thing…

12/4 - I’m trying so hard to get pumped about attaching these all together, I have 3 attached so far, which means 14 more to go and I just CANNOT get going on it! but I only have like 2 or 3 weeks left before the baby, so I NEED to get going.

12/11 - Well I am a whole hell of a lot closer to done! I was trying to connect them as I went with the row around each square, but that wasn’t working, so I did a row of white around each this morning, and I just finished sewing the seams together, so now I just need to do the border and I am finished! and just in time too since my cousin-in-law is currently at 36 weeks!

12/19 - I am done! I am blocking it right now (well trying to) it’s my first time blocking anything, and hopefully it will be done by tomorrow morning, because the mom started having mild cramps two days ago, so we think the baby will be here soon!

2012 - In the end, I didn’t end up giving this to the baby, I had created all the squares originally while my grandmother was dying in the hospital, and I had sat there manically crocheting… The blanket just had too much emotion and sadness in it for me to comfortably give it away. I whipped up another blanket for the baby, which at 2 years old now, is his absolute favourite, so I’m very glad with my decision. This blanket will possibly go to my own child someday, or maybe will just sit a drawer forever…
