Cast on a five or six years ago but it had a triangle shape not a crescent no matter how I stretched it. Also had some problems with my numbers not matching up to the pattern. Set it aside. Forgot to take a photo, but the fabric looked gorgeous.
7/21/21: Decided this had sit in a corner long enough and ripped it out, rewound into a center pull cake and cast on again. Same problem as before, very pronounced “V’ shape. Then I dropped a stitch early in the body chart so decided to try one more time. I also thought maybe I was reading the body set up instructions wrong. I emailed Interweave and the author and signed in to the virtual weekly drop-in session at WEBS for advice. Then I got an email from the author that gave me an idea. This time instead of wrapping the yarn over two needles I would use a larger needle and knit loosely … reeeally loose.
7/22/21: BINGO! Cast on size US13 needles, putting a marker every ten stitches. I made a serious effort to knit as loose as I could but not so much that I lose stitch definition. This time, when the shawl is relaxed there is a slight curve instead of an extreme “V’ shape as in previous attempts. When stretched it is straight line. I’ll make sure to be aggressive when I block it. Adding the markers also helped prevent me from having to frequently check my stitch count, saving me loads of time and frustration. I also added markers on both sides of the short row shaping to remind me to knit the YO with the last stitch, which is why my numbers in the first attempt were off.
