Notes

I worked up this pattern two years ago and like the skirt (click on the link)so much that here is number two. I actually purchased the yarn immediately after making the first skirt, but it’s been stuck in my queue. I am so happy to have finally started on this.
I bought the yarn fromcaglaw’s stash.

4.30. Cast on today +1::skin-tone-2. I used the long tail cast on method with two balls of yarn . I cast on one extra stitch then knitted the first row flat slipping the first stitch and then knitting the last stitch of the round together with this slipped stitch when joining in the round a little less headache about how long the tail should be and a neat edge at the beginning of the round.
Before working the set up round, I counted out 54 sts, placed a locking marker, counted 37 sts and placed another locking marker a total of five times. This way I did not have to count when actually working the round. I did replace the markers with solid stitch markers in the set up round.
5.2. Switched to wooden needle tips, because the reflection off the metal needles did something to my eyes giving me a major headache. Also realized that although I was so careful joining into the round, I have a twist and will have to undo four rounds. Yikes!
Note to self: DO NOT knit when you have a headache! And use a longer cable for that many stitches.

5.4. Bearing in mind the motto “ When at first you don’t succeed, try try again”, I re-started and am in a much better place.
I want this shorter than the skirt I had made previously, but longer than as per pattern. I decided on the 4 extra rows and am going to work one additional shift row and one additional even row after every fourth repeat twice.

5.13. Starting on skein #4; one third finished. Also six repeats done.

5.30. Started on the waistband which I am planning to work the same as the waistband in my other skirt with elastic.

6.1. All knitting is done. Just have to do the bind off and block and insert the elastic and I know I don’t have any time before Sunday. But yeah; it’s so close to be done.
For the bind off I am using my own method of sewn bind off and seaming combined BIND OFF. CHECK IT OUT.

6.3. The sewn bind off seemed to take forever , but is well worth it. ( you need approximately 4 times the length of yarn . It was a little cumbersome in the beginning pulling the long yarn through the stitches. Now I just have to block and pull the elastic through the waist band. I am hoping to find a blue or gray elastic 3/4 inches wide.
